of beehives (2000,2005)

The works entitled "Three Gorges Dam" and "Propolis" are both in situ projects using the instinctive construction behaviours of beehives.

They question the ambiguous  relationship between human society and our environment.

"Propolis" presents itself as a found curiosity brought into an exhibition space, where bees would have built their habitat on the ceiling of a contemporary building.

The "Three Gorges Dam" was produced within a large cooperative of spanish beekeepers and used known behaviour of the animals related to the chemical signature of a beehives in order to make the bees open up specific cells and close others. By this means different views of a wide hydroelectric power-plant constructed in China were drawn.
